The March 2011 Caricaturama Showdown 3000 Sharon Stone Contest's winner, Thierry COQUELET who was in charge to choose the next target for his world fellows caricaturists has given us a great challenge : The British-born actor Daniel Day Lewis. Tough character and interesting face, as usual.

I started with quick brushpen sketches from a quite good ref pics serie, on many sheets of paper. My first idea was to realize it in Photoshop, using my sketch as a basic frame, then adding colors with the mouse.

This was my first attempt submitted to Caicaturama, but I was all but satisfied with the result. So next day, I delete it and decided to work in a more spontaneous way of drawing : Working with a Ballpoint in a little sheet of paper, just as foe a thumbnail sketch. Then I added some colors with my Art Stix Prismacolor and submitted the final result.
